User Acceptance Testing Training Course

This two day User Acceptance Testing course will give core testing skills to users who have to accept a system, and are about to start the testing.

Skills Developed

Skills are built by using a consistent case study throughout the course with practical sessions in:

  • Understanding requirements.
  • Reviewing requirements documents.
  • Creating acceptance criteria.
  • Creating test cases.
  • Understanding test procedures.
  • Running tests against the application.
  • Analysing the results of the tests.
  • Classifying test results.
  • Determining whether the system can be accepted.

Each participant is given the use of a Palm computer with a full keyboard for running the tests. Most of these exercises occur on the second day of the course.

Upon completion of the course attendees leave with a complete set of session notes, example answers to the case study for future reference, and an attendance certificate.



Who Should Attend

This software testing course is intended for any non-technical person who has responsibility for conducting acceptance tests on a computer system. People with IT skills will also benefit from this course. All participants need to understand the basics of using a computer.



Skills Learnt

At the end of the course participants will have been taught to:

  • Know why and how they should test a system.
  • Describe the key characteristics of what requirements are and how they fit in with acceptance testing.
  • Informally review requirements documents.
  • Derive Acceptance Criteria.
  • Construct an efficient set of test cases from Acceptance Criteria.
  • Describe the key issues of a Test Procedure.
  • Describe the key characteristics of a Test Plan.
  • Use the documentation required to run tests.
  • Run test cases against an application and analyse the results.
  • Comment on the effect change requests have on testing.
  • Give considered responses to what test cases are required for regression testing.
  • Give considered advice as to whether to accept a system.
  • Describe the use of test results.
  • Describe testing tool issues for UAT.
